Please note that many agencies and organisations have formal complaints and appeals processes. I cannot intervene or help until all these channels have been exhausted.When all of these processes have been completed, I can support a complaint to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) about UK Government departments and other UK public organisations. Please consult their website first for further information.

How I can help:

  • As an MP I can help with issues for which central government is responsible for including:
    - Benefits, pensions, National Insurance, and other matters dealt with by the Department for Work and Pensions
    - Immigration and other problems dealt with by the Home Office
    - Tax issues involving HM Revenue and Customs
    - Problems with the NHS
    - Problems with the Child Maintenance Service or Child Support Agency
    - School grants and closures
  • As an MP I can write to organisations, councils or other public bodies on your behalf. While MPs cannot overturn decisions made, we can advocate ask for the decision to be reviewed and reconsidered.
  • As an MP I can raise issues of your concern with relevant ministers and speak about your concerns in Parliament.

What I can't do:

  • An MP cannot provide legal advice or intervene in legal matters or court cases.
  • An MP does not have control over planning applications, planning applications are decided on by local councils and councillors.
  • An MP does not have the power to overturn a decision made by a council, but can ask for a review and advocate for residents.
