I hosted an event with local residents about the plans for housing and commercial space at the Lucas Factory site in Kingswood.
In February, residents had the opportunity to put their questions about what is happening with the site directly to the developer and their planning agent. Key issues that were raised by local residents included:
- There is large support for the principle of the redevelopment of the site, so this eyesore can be removed once and for all.
- The impact on parking for existing residents was raised, as the proposed number of spaces will be less than the number of homes planned for the site.
- The balance of commercial space on the site, alongside the existing High Street, where there are currently empty units that need to be filled.
- Ensuring that the infrastructure will be able to support additional homes, such as school places, GP appointments and accessing local dentistry.
It was a pleasure to bring everyone together to put their questions directly to the developers of the Lucas Factory site. We need this building to be redeveloped, it has been an eyesore for years and the condition is getting worse. Residents who attended generally welcomed the plans, with comments made about there needing to be enough parking.
